South Fuerteventura Windsurf Holidays
Southern Fuerteventura is one of the windiest locations in the Canary Islands due to the geography of the land and mountains inland, creating the 'venturi' effect, like a bottle nose, accelerating the wind out over the beach. The wind here blows all year but is especially extremely strong in the summer months. Prevailing wind direction is off shore - Rescue and safety services are second to none for our recommended spots
There are really three main windsurfing areas in Southern Fuerteventura; these are Costa Calma (the main tourist area with many hotels and a superb watersport centre), Sotavento (home to one of the largest windsurf centres in the world and the Paradisus Hotel) and Risco Del Paso (a more isolated windsurf spot but with far less gusty conditions than Sotavento). This is an amazing windsurf location, with the windsurf schools all at a very high standard, stocking the latest range of equipment. Wingfoiling and Kitesurfing is also possible at these spots.
