It can work especially well for couples and families, where the main focus of the trip is not just the windsurfing, but for a general luxury holiday, with the windsurfer having a few hard core sessions between family time.
There are lots of activities not the island, including scenes mountain drives, walking / hiking trails, mountain biking and sea kayaking. The Old Town of Las Palma in the North is worth a stroll around, with nice small restaurants and historical buildings.
