Why you'll love windsurfing in Cyprus!
Cyprus is a beautiful tourist destination and a great spot for windsurfers. It is the third-largest island in the Mediterranean stretching 150 miles from the west coast to its easternmost tip and 60 mlles from north to south. This outstanding island offers clear seas, warm waters and amazing wind.
English is spoken in all the shops, restaurants and hotels. Cyprus has also a remarkably low crime rate, which makes it an ideal destination for families and couples.
Climate
Cyprus is an all-year-round destination and experiences long dry summers and mild winters that are separated by short autumn and spring seasons. Summer has high temperatures (average 32°C) with cloudless skies, but the sea breeze creates a pleasant atmosphere in the coastal areas. Winters are mild (average 16°C), with some rain and snow on Troodos Mountains.
Sea temperature
The temperature in the open sea hovers above 22°C from June to November, climbing to 28°C in August. During the three coolest months of January to March, average sea temperature is still an acceptable 16° or 17°C. There are no significant daily fluctuations in sea water temperatures, except in very shallow waters less than one metre deep.
Wind and sea state
In broad lines Cyprus’s wind is characterised by two seasons: steady southwest sea breeze in the summer averaging 16knots 5 to 6 days per week, and wind variable in strength, frequency and direction during the winter. Sea state ranges from flat with the occasional little waves in the summer to small chop and double head high waves in the winter.
