Qwabi Private Game Reserve

Qwabi Private Game Reserve, located in South Africa's Limpopo province, is a premier safari destination spanning approximately 11,000 hectares within the UNESCO-designated Waterberg Biosphere. This malaria-free reserve offers an authentic African wilderness experience, boasting a diverse array of wildlife, including the renowned Big Five - Lions, Leopard, Rhinoceros, Elephants, and Buffalo.

South Africa's climate is characterised by distinct seasons, each offering unique safari experiences:
  • Winter (May to August): This dry season features cooler temperatures and sparse vegetation, making wildlife more visible as animals congregate around water sources.
  • Spring (September to November): The landscape begins to bloom, and many animals give birth during this period, providing opportunities to observe young wildlife.
  • Summer (December to February): The rainy season brings lush greenery and abundant birdlife, though thicker vegetation can make game viewing slightly more challenging.
  • Autumn (March to April): A transitional period with mild temperatures and diminishing rainfall, offering pleasant conditions for safari activities.
While each season has its own appeal, the dry winter months are often favoured for optimal game viewing.

  • Game Drives: Led by experienced guides, these excursions provide close encounters with the Big Five and other species in their natural habitats.
  • Bird Watching: The reserve's rich avian population makes it a haven for bird enthusiasts, with guided walks offering insights into various bird species.
  • Bush Walks: These guided walks allow guests to explore the flora and fauna up close, learning about the intricate ecosystems of the African bushveld.
  • Stargazing: The clear night skies offer spectacular views of celestial wonders, with guided sessions highlighting constellations and galaxies unique to the Southern Hemisphere.

The reserve is committed to conservation, transforming former agricultural land into a protected area to rewild and restore the sensitive ecosystem.
In summary, Qwabi Private Game Reserve offers a luxurious and immersive safari experience, with each season providing unique opportunities to connect with Africa's diverse wildlife and landscapes.

Days 4 - 6

5* Stanley and Livingstone Boutique Hotel

Breakfast

Today, you will be transferred back from Qwabi Safari Park to JNB airport for your 2-hour flight to Victoria Falls. 2 nights in Victoria fall is a good time to have a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, and a tour around the Falls.

The tour includes a return flight to JNB to connect with your onward journey.

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls is one of the biggest and most beautiful waterfalls in the world. It is on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, where the Zambezi River drops down a cliff, creating a powerful waterfall. The locals call it "Mosi-oa-Tunya," which means "The Smoke That Thunders," because of the mist and noise it makes. The falls are about 1.7 kilometres wide and over 100 meters high, making them a breathtaking sight.

The best time to visit depends on what you want to see. From February to May, just after the rainy season, the waterfall is at its strongest, with huge amounts of water crashing down and creating thick mist. This is when the falls look the most dramatic, but sometimes, the mist makes it hard to take clear photos. From June to August, the weather is cooler, and the water level is lower, so you get a clearer view of the falls. September to November is the driest time, and in some parts, the waterfall may be just a trickle, but this is the best time to swim in the famous Devil’s Pool, right at the edge of the falls.

There are many exciting things to do in the area. You can take a boat cruise on the Zambezi River, especially at sunset, to see hippos, crocodiles, and beautiful views. If you love adventure, you can try white-water rafting, bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls Bridge, or taking a helicopter ride for a stunning view from above. There are also national parks nearby where you can go on safari to see elephants, lions, and other wildlife. Visiting the local villages and learning about their culture is another great experience. Whether you want excitement or relaxation, Victoria Falls has something for everyone.
