Tour Highlights

A simple 3-day extension tour to Luxor after or before your Red Sea beach stay in Soma Bay (or other Red Sea resort to include El Gouna, Hurghada, El Quseir or Marsa Alam)

Days 1 - 7

5* Palm Royale Soma Bay

Half Board

The hotel creates, with its surroundings made by hundreds of palm trees, an idyllic beachfront retreat. Golden sand, turquoise waters and the twin bays form the backdrop for a great spot for snorkelling and other water sports activities.

Here you can relax on the beach, or get out onto or under the water immediately. There is a Windsurf, Wing Foil, Kitesurf and Scuba Diving centre at the Palm Royale and has ideal conditions for all levels, from beginner to the more advanced.

Soma Bay

Soma Bay is one of the very best windsurfing locations in Egypt due to is wind reliability and huge windsurf lagoon. There exact windsurf spot will depend on which side of the lagoon you are based, although all areas are accessible by a short boat ride or even within windsurfing distance.

The Abu Soma southern side of the lagoon offers arguably the best conditions with side to side-onshore wind and easy access to a good-sized waist high areas in the bay that is perfect for beginners. On the Soma Bay northern part of the lagoon, the wind is off-shore meaning that the conditions can be a bit gusty directly off the shore. Even though it is off shore wind here it is still very safe as the worst case is you end up on a beach the other side of the lagoon. However, as with all of our windsurf locations our partner windsurf centres off full safety cover.

Both areas offer super flat conditions although the up wind bay has the added benefit of super clean wind. This spot is just amazing for beginners and intermediate looking to build confidence.

Planet Windsurf Holidays only work with the very best windsurf centres in Soma Bay and we have years of experience selling this resort. As part of your booking process we will take into account your windsurfing level, general holiday requirements and budget and ensure we locate you in the correct area and hotel. That is just one of the benefits or booking with Planet Travel.

Luxor

Luxor, often referred to as the "world's greatest open-air museum," is a city in southern Egypt that boasts a wealth of ancient Egyptian history and monuments. Situated along the Nile River, Luxor is divided into two areas: the East Bank, representing life and worship, and the West Bank, the land of the dead.

Karnak Temple, East Bank - A massive temple complex dedicated primarily to the god Amun-Ra, Karnak is an awe-inspiring site. Highlights include the Hypostyle Hall with its forest of colossal columns, the Sacred Lake, and the Avenue of Sphinxes that connects Karnak to Luxor Temple.

Luxor Temple, East Bank - Located in the heart of the city, this temple was dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship. It is especially beautiful at night when it’s illuminated. The temple also features evidence of Egypt's history from pharaonic, Roman, Christian, and Islamic periods.

Luxor Museum, East Bank - This well-curated museum showcases artifacts from the New Kingdom and beyond, including statues, jewelry, and items from Tutankhamun’s tomb. It's an excellent complement to visiting the temples.

Valley of the Kings, West Bank - This necropolis contains the tombs of pharaohs from the New Kingdom, including the famous tomb of Tutankhamun. Many tombs feature intricate wall carvings and vibrant paintings depicting scenes from the afterlife.

Valley of the Queens, West Bank - The burial site for queens and royal children, the valley includes the magnificent tomb of Nefertari, known for its stunningly preserved artwork.

Temple of Hatshepsut (Deir el-Bahari), West Bank - This mortuary temple of the powerful female pharaoh Hatshepsut is an architectural masterpiece, blending into the cliffs behind it.

Colossi of Memnon, West Bank - These two massive statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III stand as silent sentinels on the West Bank. They are impressive remnants of what was once a large temple complex.

Medinet Habu (Mortuary Temple of Ramses III), West Bank - This temple is less crowded but incredibly well-preserved, with vibrant reliefs depicting battles and religious ceremonies.

Deir el-Medina (Workers' Village), West Bank - This site provides insight into the lives of the workers who built the royal tombs. The nearby tombs of the artisans are small but feature vibrant and detailed paintings.
