The beautiful natural beach at Risco del Paso in Southern Fuerteventura is located at the other end of the lagoon from the Melia properties and just 7km south of the Costa Calma resort. This is one of the best windsurfing and kitesurfing locations on the whole of Fuerteventura.
The huge sandy beach and the windsurfing and kitesurfing spot at Risco del Paso Playa Sotavento is in a class of its own and for sure one of the best places on Fuerteventura. It’s hard to find a spot that offers so many different conditions all at the same place. The windsurfing speed track in Risco del Paso in front of the centre really lives up to its name. Depending on the tide there is a large shallow area in front of the centre, which is superb for intermediate sailors to practice waterstarts and jibes. Another advantage when the tide is up, are two shallow water pools which are used for beginner lessons, giving the students a very safe feeling. Kitesurf lessons are held to the left and separate from the windsurfing area.
Upwind of the ION CLUB Risco del Paso centre, there is a nice wave spot with a maximum height of one to two meters. It is an ideal spot for windsurfers and kitesurfers who want to learn wave riding, but also for surfers who want to get in the water while staying close to the centre. The waves are mostly smooth and the sandy bottom is harmless.
Due to the off shore wind condition in the South, any windsurf and kitesurf beach with any buildings or steep hills side directing behind, created very gusty wind. Risco del Paso has some of the cleanest wind due to its remote location and lack of obstacles tot he wind.
Guests can take the regular and free shuttle service between the centre Risco del Paso and Costa Calma.

Risco del Paso stocks all the latest Fanatic and Duotone equipment with board from 75 - 150 litres. At certain times and depending on the tide, there is a large area where you can walk, perfect for intermediate windsurfers or to perfect your waterstart and jibe. Windsurfing in Fuerteventura is possible for everyone. Another advantage of the island, when the tide is high, is the presence of two shallow water lagoons perfect for lessons for windsurfing beginners, which is often reassuring.
Kitesurfing at Pisco del Paso
Risco del Paso stocks all the latest North and Duotone equipment with a great wind range of kit. At certain times and depending on the tide, there is a large area where you can walk, perfect for intermediate kitesurfers or to perfect your waterstart and upwind riding. Kitesurfing in Fuerteventura is possible for everyone (subject to age). Another advantage of the island, when the tide is high, is the presence of two shallow water lagoons perfect for lessons for kitesurfing beginners, which is often reassuring.
