Overview Kasbah Du Toubkal Retreat

This traditional Berber-style property is set a short walk (or donkey ride) from Imlil village, in the heart of the Atlas Mountains. This is a good choice for singles, families or couples who want an authentic 'Berber' style experience with several trekking routes directly from the hotel. The peak of the Atas Mountains (Jbel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa.) is a 4-hour trek (each way), which can be done as a full day, or 2-day trip (overnighting in a traditional Berber hut).

With several peaks above 4000 metres, the Central High Atlas is part of a larger chain of mountains that spreads from the Atlantic Coast in the west to the Algerian border in the east. The mountains are home to the indigenous Berber (or Amazigh) people who have inhabited Morocco for at least 5000 years. The Berbers live in small clusters of earthen adobe houses which cling precipitously to mountainsides and are often only accessible by mule or foot.

A trek in the High Atlas will offer more than a glimpse into a way of life that has barely changed for centuries and where traditional values and hospitality have been mostly unaffected by the outside world.

Kasbah Du Toubkal Accommodation

For those who wish for superb rooms in a stunning setting, you can choose between the spectacular Garden House Apartment (125 sq m) with its 12 m of glass wall looking up to Jbel Toubkal, the Deluxe and Standard en suite rooms, or Berber Salons with gallery sleeping areas for families and groups.

Garden House - On the south side of the Kasbah and slightly lower down is the Garden House. This is a 3-bedroomed house with its own entrance and a stunning lounge with an open fire and a 12 metre plate glass wall looking up towards the mountains and the peak of Jbel Toubkal. It is especially suitable for those guests who wish to have more privacy and their own private lounge, dining room and kitchen. There is no need, although it would be a shame, to even visit the Kasbah.

The Garden House has been so designed that, by locking off rooms, it can be configured as either:
